INSPIRATION: The Power Of Words

Read: Genesis 1; Proverbs 18:21-22

In the book of Genesis we see the beautiful story of creation, where our Father God created the heavens and the earth. In this story we see the Lord God created everything by speaking. The Lord God spoke let there be light and it was. A little further into Genesis we see that God made us (mankind) in His image and His likeness. One way we are made in His likeness is we have been given the power of words. We have the ability to speak things into existence. In today's society we have lost a respect for the power of words, we loosely speak things we don't want into our lives, not realizing that every word we speak has an affect. I've heard people claim their arm was killing them because it was in pain, or that they "can't win for losing" because things werent working out for them. although they may not have literally meant what they were saying, they were declaring that over themselves. Words are very powerful things and are supposed to be used responsibly. It's important that we really try to monitor what we speak out of our mouths. Many of us speak so much negativity into our lives and the lives of others everyday that we're unaware of, but many times those words have an affect on something. So many of us are still living with the mental limitations and scars as a result from words spoken over us by parents in their frustration and anger when we were children! It is so important that we monitor our tongues; since the enemy can't speak things into existence himself, he will use people to curse others and fulfill his agenda in their life. So many people have been scarred and hurt by words of negativity spoken by a loved one or peer. We have the gift of life and death in our tongue, we can release life into someone's life through loving encouragement and declaration or death through negative comments and curses. We also have the ability to speak life into our own Lives, children, finances and more. It's all about making up our mind and making the effort to be used as a blessing to lift others up and empower them. I have made up in my mind that I won't speak negative about anyone, but only positive. If we want things to change in our life, a great place to start is with the words we speak, our words are connected to what we think and what's in our heart, which then reflects our life. Speak and declare the things you want the Lord to do in your life, He's more than capable and many times He's waiting for you to declare or ask. I challenge you this week to monitor your words, keep a count of how many negative statements you make compared to positive ones and try to speak ten positive statements for every negative one; instead of making a negative statement about someone or yourself pray for something positive instead! God bless and remember you are made in Gods image so your words hold power.

Heavenly Father, I pray you will teach me the importance and power of words, prevent me from speaking curses over myself and others. I break and stand against every curse ever spoken against me in the name of Jesus and declare full freedom from all affects of them. I pray you will teach me to bless others with my words and not bring them down. I pray for your guidance in the spirit and I repent for every time I've allowed the enemy to use me to tear myself or someone else down with words. I receive your forgiveness and pray you will remove all affects in the name of Jesus. Amen
